Founded by Canadian Lynn Connell in 2008, the current Majengo Orphanage is no longer able to comfortably house the growing number of children who call it home.

GiveGetGo is taking volunteers to assist in building new facilities located three miles from its current location, on ten acres of land, gifted to Majengo by the local
district government.

The space will be home to a new orphanage, school, infirmary, gardens, playground, soccer field, outdoor laundry facility and a goat project. More than 130 children aged one to fourteen will benefit from the food, education, medicine, love and accommodation of Majengo, which is why having adequate facilities is so important to this community.

GiveGetGo believes that childhood education is essential for a community to become self-supporting. To learn more about this commitment see our FAQs.

The orphanage is also a source of jobs for local residents, in roles such as cooks, cleaners, teachers, as well as a matron, secretary, treasurer and night watchman.
